With support from the California Arts Council, the Arts High Foundation will engage TheatreWorkers Project Director Susie Tanner to train 3 LACHSA academic teachers in the art of planning and implementing integrated curriculum projects that will deepen students’ understanding of academics. Teachers will learn to utilize interdisciplinary theatre techniques that will enhance student exploration and expression of social and political topics related to Biology, History, Government, or Economics.
The non-profit LACHSA Foundation raises funds to support the conservatory-style arts training offered to students at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts free of charge. Each year, the Foundation works to bridge the gap between available state funding and the actual cost of running the Arts Departments as well as to establish and promote programs and partnerships with visiting artists, arts professionals and arts organizations.
This support helps provide:
• Department teaching artists, most of whom are California-based professional artists in each discipline
• Master Classes taught by world-class actors, dancers, musicians, filmmakers and choreographers
• Professional level plays, musicals, operas, dance recitals, music concerts, film festivals and visual art exhibitions
• High quality musical instruments, art materials, dance studios, stage lighting/sound/sets, and access to state-of-the-industry film equipment
