Project Description

Our goal is to have an event take place at a cinematheque or a floor plan space in Los Angeles that will allow us to showcase feminist media. The objective is to have sufficient space to accommodate panels, and screenings. The project funding will assist by providing support for existing artistic projects and programming that will be showcased at the proposed event entitled, “Femtasia”. Additionally, the Les Femmes Underground International Film Festival (LEFUFF) support from this grant, will aid in increasing the festival’s organizational capacity and expanding the physical size of the event. Moreover, this grant will enable artists to showcase their works, thereby enhancing the artistic capacity of LEFUFF and ensuring accessibility to the general public. The CAC grant will assist in covering direct/indirect costs as well as facilities expenses associated with the event.

Organization Summary

Our organization’s core program, the Les Femmes Underground International Film Festival (LEFUFF), now rebranded as FEMTASIA FEST, serves as a traveling platform for showcasing films by women, femme, and non-binary experimental and independent filmmakers. FEMTASIA FEST is an official 501c3 non-profit, featuring a diverse range of programming, including experimental, genre, narrative, documentary, psychotropic, and films exploring sexuality. We have successfully traveled throughout the Southwest, bringing unique and thought-provoking films to audiences. Beyond the festival, our organization is dedicated to community enrichment through philanthropic initiatives. A key program is Books For Babes, a literacy initiative that brings feminist children’s books to under-represented communities nationwide. Through this program, we promote literacy and empower young minds with literature celebrating diversity, equality, and feminism. We take pride in our commitment to assist at-need communities through art and education. By combining our passion for filmmaking with community outreach, we strive to uplift marginalized voices. Through philanthropic drives and events, we actively contribute to community enrichment, supporting and empowering underprivileged communities. Our core programs center around FEMTASIA FEST, the film festival showcasing women, femme, and non-binary filmmakers, and our dedication to community enrichment through initiatives like Books For Babes. We promote artistic expression, diversity, and literacy while advocating for underrepresented voices in the industry.
