The Latina Dance Project, a collaborative ensemble of multidisciplinary artists, explores through performances–physical, musical, and visual–controversial issues impacting the global community. The company’s “projects” create experiences that form a new aesthetic in dance-theater reflective of the diverse Latin culture of today, shedding light and provoking reflections that can bring about changes tomorrow.
While building a platform for the diverse, rich voice of Latinx culture, the Latina Dance Project creates and presents performances and the BlakTinx festivals, accepts multidisciplinary commissions, conducts education-based residencies, as well as community outreach, research and scholarship. This is done through the uniqueness of the company, which since 2002, has been comprised of artists who are established at the national and international levels and who bring to the company a gamut of different talents in performance making, education, and research.
