Project Description
With support from the California Arts Council, LA THEATRE WORKS will adapt our successful California Series of audio plays into a new podcast series. Eight plays – each featuring a distinct California story – will be remastered for the podcast format. New interviews with relevant artists will be included. Promoted through our weekly radio show, the podcasts and interviews will build upon existing Facebook video interviews, and all materials will be consolidated onto a new web page.
Organization Summary
Live Series: World classics, modern masterpieces and contemporary and original works recorded in our unique audio theatre format in front of a live audience.
Broadcast Series: A weekly broadcast of a select play, including supplemental materials such as interviews with artists and subject experts, carried on 50+ public radio stations across the country and streamed “on-demand” on our website.
National Tours: Unique radio-style productions, talk-backs, panels and masterclasses presented at universities and in civic spaces nationwide.
Podcast Series: Select plays edited and distributed in the podcast format.
Education Programs: Free, digital, arts-based educational tools accessible to teachers and librarians nationwide, including: recordings and curricular materials , and a searchable database of plays for use in higher education.
Audio Publishing: Plays recorded for audio formats and distributed through retail partners, community programs, and libraries nationwide.
