Project Description
With support from the California Arts Council, KVIE INC will create 5 digital video segments celebrating cultural preservation through the arts for viewing on KVIE’s digital platforms; and to air as feature segments in the 30-minute weekly program KVIE Arts Showcase. More than 100,000 viewers will be engaged.
To engage the community, KVIE plans a public screening event in April/May 2021. This screening event envisions arts demonstrations/performances from those profiled in the storytelling.
Organization Summary
We serve nearly 1.4 million households in 28 counties – the Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto, and foothill area is the 20th largest television market. We’ve been on air since February 23, 1959. We launched our high-definition and digital service in June 2003, and we’ve added three more channels: KVIE2 (6.2), KVIE World (6.3), and KVIE PBS Kids (6.4). Over 52,000 members, from Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto, the foothills, and everywhere in between, support us at every level. We know the power of people. Over 300 volunteers donate over 10,000 hours each year to help make great public television happen!
Last year, KVIE launched a brand new channel, featuring exclusively PBS KIDS programming 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The exciting new channel provides all children with access to a television the opportunity to view quality and educational programming around the clock.
