Kristin Damrow & Company (KDC) offers programs that expand access to dance while supporting artists in the Bay Area. Our work is centered on creating consistent entry points for participation and providing resources for artists to develop and present new work.

Bodies of Empowerment (BOE) is KDC’s free, ongoing class series that removes cost barriers to participation. Classes are offered monthly across San Francisco and Oakland and are open to a wide range of experience levels. BOE features a rotating roster of teaching artists working across contemporary, hip-hop, vogue, somatic practices, and more. Instructors shape the structure and tone of each class, creating spaces that reflect the communities they engage. The program supports both participants, who gain access to movement-based practice, and artists, who are paid above standard Bay Area rates.

Merde Project is KDC’s artist development and performance program. Each cycle supports a cohort of choreographers with stipends, rehearsal support, and fully produced performances. KDC manages production, marketing, and technical needs, allowing artists to focus on developing their work. The program prioritizes artists who face barriers to accessing traditional funding or presentation platforms and includes feedback sessions that support continued artistic growth.

Across both programs, KDC emphasizes sustained engagement. Participants can move from initial exposure through BOE into deeper involvement in the dance community, while artists are supported through both teaching and creative opportunities.

Through these programs, KDC builds a structure where access to dance leads to ongoing participation, creative development, and public presentation.
