With support from the California Arts Council, Krista DeNio>>Moving Ground will offer weekly creative arts workshops for veterans and civilian allies, from September 2019-May 2020, culminating in a performative showing of creative materials in collaboration with the SFAC Gallery. The workshops are free, open to all, and will be co-led and co-created by veterans and artists from the KDMG/ETS team, working together with the veteran (and civilian ally) participants.
KD>>MG’s programs and services include creating performance works that engage specific communities through research, development and co-creation of a performance work. These projects, bring professional artists into collaboration with other communities for interdisciplinary and co-educational research, healing and social change. From 2011-2020, we have developed the model for and created many iterations of EchoTheaterSuitcase project (ETS) bringing together military veterans and civilian performing artists, to co-create site-specific, audience-interactive experiences, based on the lived histories of all participants. We also lead community workshops in civilian ally-ship with military veterans and community engagement, as well as, dance and theater making training workshops, and other interactive, community-building workshops and experiences. www.movingground.org | www.echotheatersuitcase.com
