develop and perform One thousand and One Stories (working title) an original, bilingual (Spanish and English) community-based play in collaboration with Santa Rosa based musician and composer Jose Soto. The piece, which delves into immigrant experiences in the U.S., will be created and performed by a diverse ensemble that includes professional, emerging, and community artists. Grant funds support artists, outreach, and production costs.
Our programming includes: the creation of new contemporary works in collaboration with Bay Area artists and community members, bilingual (Spanish and English) classes and performances, theater residencies in Title 1 public schools, after-school and summer youth workshops, paid internships and residencies for transitional youth (ages 18-25), and community-based and site-specific projects in collaboration with local community organizations.
