Project Description

With support from the CAC, Kitka will continue and expand the reach of HARMONY AND DISSONANCE: BULGARIAN VOCAL ARTS, 4 weeks of residency programs directed by lead artist Tzvetanka Varimezova, a Los Angeles-based master performer, teacher, and choral director who specializes in traditional and contemporary Bulgarian vocal music.

Residency activities will include free mass Community Sings, vocal master classes, community choral workshops, collaborative performances, and broadcasts throughout CA.

Organization Summary

Kitka’s core organizational programs and services include a San Francisco Bay Area-based series of concerts, workshops, artist residencies, leadership of community choirs and community sings; in-school programs; regional, national, and international touring; recording, publication, and broadcast projects; commissioning; and adventuresome multicultural and multidisciplinary collaborations with some of the worlds most compelling traditional artists and contemporary performance makers.
