With support from the CAC, Kitka will sponsor HARMONY AND DISSONANCE: BULGARIAN VOCAL ARTS. This project is designed around two week-long Bay Area residencies directed by lead artist Tzvetanka Varimezova, a Los Angeles-based master performer, teacher, and choral director who specializes in traditional and contemporary Bulgarian choral music.
Residency activities include free mass Community Sings, vocal master classes and community choral workshops, collaborative performances, and broadcasts.
Kitka’s core organizational programs and services include a San Francisco Bay Area-based series of concerts, workshops, artist residencies, leadership of community choirs and community sings; in-school programs; regional, national, and international touring; recording, publication, and broadcast projects; commissioning; and adventuresome multicultural and multidisciplinary collaborations with some of the worlds most compelling traditional artists and contemporary performance makers.
