With support from the California Arts Council, the Indian Performing Art Center will support a series of public showcases—from traditionally intimate encounters to large-scale pieces for the concert stage—featuring the live collaboration between classical Kathak dancers and Hindustani musicians. These intergenerational shows will highlight the collaborative improvisation of expressive storytelling, mathematical footwork, and rhythmic call-and-response that defines classical performance.
IPAC is at its core and education institution for north Indian classical music and dance. We offer classes at all levels, and sustain a performing company which offers performances, demonstrations, lectures, and workshops around Southern California in settings as wide-ranging as traditional house concerts to formal recitals to university classes to public workshops at museums, community centers, and art schools.
