Organization Summary

The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) brings to Los Angeles audiences the most groundbreaking independent cinema from South Asia and its diasporas, in a vibrant, highly curated program comprising features and shorts, including narrative, documentary and animated works. In addition to film screenings, the festival offers emerging and underrepresented storytellers numerous industry-facing mentorship, educational and networking opportunities. The five-day event also hosts special programs, such as retrospectives, spotlights, and networking and social events, all aimed at fostering a greater participation in South Asian cinema and culture and promoting the diverse perspectives of the Indian and larger South Asian diasporas.

This includes historically and systemically underrepresented filmmakers and film industries of Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Afghanistan, and their diasporas.

In 2024, IFFLA launched IFFLA Industry Day, an day-long forum in Los Angeles for rising and established film and TV creatives, executives, and audiences. Building on this success, in 2025 this forum expanded to IFFLA Industry Days, which took place over two days with more panels and mentorship events as well as IFFLA Connect, presenting 10 projects in development meeting with potential financiers and collaborators. Both years featured Launchpad, a dynamic live pitch competition, where finalists pitched their film or TV projects to a panel of industry executives who would give immediate feedback in front of an audience. Each year, the winner received a $10,000 development grant.

IFFLA Industry Days and IFFLA overall make for an enlightening cultural space which builds context and buzz about upcoming work, provides an avenue for new, underrepresented work, leverages relationships by imparting vital mentorship and grants, and fosters community.
