With support from the California Arts Council, INCA, the Peruvian Ensemble will supplement compensation for musicians and dancers for shows at schools, libraries, senior citizen centers, museums, and festivals in Southern California. Most of these venues have very limited budgets or in some cases no funds to provide proper compensation.
INCA provides performances at schools, libraries, theaters, colleges, universities, Senior citizen centers,
festivals, museums, and private events, as well as workshops and master classes featuring, as mentioned above, the multi-cultural music and dance forms from Peru.
Since 1982 “INCA” has gained steadily in artistic excellence and in reputation as one of the west coast’s leading ethnic performing companies. Concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, the Redlands Bowl, The Fresno Civic Auditorium, Zion National Park, El Paso’s El Chamizal Amphitheater, Santa Fe’s Greer Garson Theater, Albuquerque’s S.B.C.C., Colorado State University, Colorado College, etc., are true
indicators that the company has a feisty following throughout California and the western states. In ’93-’94 “INCA” performed at Mingus Auditorium in Cottonwood, AZ; at the Luther Burbank Ctr. for the Performing Arts in Santa Rosa, CA; Saddleback Community College in Mission Viejo, CA; in ‘95 at the Detroit Institute of Art. Throughout the years INCA toured throughout California aided with touring grants from the California Arts Council.
INCA also produced and presented “Fiesta Peru”, a festival of Peruvian music and dance, in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008, “Fiesta Argentina”, Argentine Tango and Folklore music and dance, at the Ford Amphitheatre. In 2007 INCA produced the “40th Anniversary Concert Tour” presentation in Los Angeles of the emblematic group from Chile “Inti-Illimani” at the Ford. In 2008 INCA participated again at the Summer Sounds program at the Hollywood Bowl for a two week engagement, and at the Paul Getty Museum in connection with their Peruvian exhibit. INCA does shows at parks/schools and libraries through the Music Center of L.A. County. Every year INCA holds the International Cajon Festival at the Remo facilities in Santa Clarita (simultaneously held in Peru, Japan and other countries), and the dancers offer community Peruvian dance lessons at the Flamenco Dance Studio in Alhambra.
