A Bay Area 501(c)3 nonprofit, Immersive Arts Alliance (IAA) was founded in early 2020 to support the development and presentation of works in an emerging domain of practice that is called “immersive”.This means artist creations that the audience enters into, is surrounded by, and that may be interactive with the audience. Often this work activates nontraditional spaces (the water, the sky, a greenway, a courtyard, the side of a building), maximizing accessibility. At IAA, we have a deep commitment to diversity and social justice issues, expressed both through the projects we present and through the values we have fostered in our organization.
Immersive Arts Alliance (IAA) believes in equal opportunity and is committed to providing a barrier-free environment that allows all people to maintain their independence and dignity. We believe that everyone should be able to access our productions and programs, and that our diverse community should be reflected in all that we do. Immersive Art is for everyone. At IAA, we set up collaborations across all lines of color, gender, race and class; commission artists of color to create new work; showcase work by artists of color; make diversity a core value in who we work with and who is part of our organization; bring technology-based artist tools to those who don’t have them.
