With support from the California Arts Council, HEALDSBURG JAZZ FESTIVAL INC will strengthen its capacity to engage marginalized populations by presenting the Jazz Village and Jazz Village Campus during the 2019 Healdsburg Jazz Festival. Featuring free, interactive music performance and education programs, Jazz Village and Jazz Village Campus will engage residents and visitors of all ages and backgrounds while deepening their understanding of jazz’s vibrant culture and community-building values.
Healdsburg Jazz was launched in 1999 with a three-day festival featuring Cedar Walton, Billy Higgins and Bobby Hutcherson and has grown to an annual 10 day jazz festival. The ensuing years have seen Healdsburg Jazz evolve into a dynamic performance and music education organization seeking to instill jazz’s core values of respect, cooperation and collaboration in a culturally underserved region. In addition, Healdsburg Jazz contributes to Sonoma County’s cultural and economic life through year-round concert series at Paul Mahder Gallery, Hotel Healdsburg and Dry Creek Kitchen and special performances at other area venues.
