“With support from the California Arts Council, HARRY BRIDGES PROJECT will prepare for California Community Colleges’ re-opening and offer free performances of our educational plays again, and expand our on-line Lesson Plans, partnered with the American Federation of Teachers, to include the National Education Association, and all California CC teachers.
Our core program offers performances of three one-man plays about Harry Bridges, Thomas Paine, and Nikola Telsa. These plays tell the stories of immigrants who arrived penniless in America, and through their work made the world a better place. We perform at California Community Colleges, Universities, museums, libraries, unions and citizen groups. The plays look at issues of immigration, voter rights, equality, social justice, scientific advancement and the environment. After each performance we engage with the audience in an active Q&A, discussions about the relevance of the plays to our current lives and offer workshops if requested. We also partner with the American Federation of Teachers and have created two on-line Lesson Plans that make use of excerpts from our Bridges and Paine films.
