With support from the California Arts Council, Halau Hula O Kaeo Inc will continue to perpetuate the native Hawaiian culture within our communities in California. Our participation in annual cultural events, festivals, and competitions incur expenses for costuming, fresh floral adornments, musical implements, transportation, advertising, accommodations, meals, and incidentals. These annual events are instrumental in educating our students and community members in cultural identity and awareness.
Our award-winning competitive Hālau offers Hula and Tahitian classes, educational and cultural workshops, and a Hawaiian language program for all ages and levels. We currently have a student base of over 100 haumāna (students), with many family members dancing. Since its induction in 2003, Halau Hula O Kaʻeo has cultivated vast community involvement through many events such as the Pacific Islander Festival, San Diego County Fair, Escondido Street Faire, and its own productions which includes an annual hoʻike (recital), luau, and Hawaiian music concert featuring renown musicians from Hawaii.
