With support from the California Arts Council, GRYD Foundation will engage Marlené Nancy López to research and develop an earned income strategy for The GRYD Foundation. Consultant’s work will include gauging artist participant and consumer interest, and steps necessary for GRYD Foundation to use its existing office space to host gallery events and to engage underemployed artists to create beautifully crafted art pieces that GRYD Foundation can market and sell at local events and online.
The GRYD programming model includes free Summer Night Lights arts, cultural, sports, health, and workforce development opportunities during the summer time when youth are in desperate need of positive engagement, along with community engagement programming beyond the summer period to form a year round continuum of services. GRYD arts programming provides community engagement arts, cultural and culinary workshops during the Summer Night Lights & Fall Friday Nights program, led by dedicated and civic-minded artists. GRYD arts programming sees local artists, instructors and vendors engage over 15,000 residents in art workshops and dance clinics each year. The GRYD Foundation believes that all program participants can embody the artistic spirit of risk-taking, resourcefulness, expression and perseverance in order to better serve their communities and themselves. We wish to serve as a platform for artists seeking to use their gifts towards strengthening their communities and city.
