The Green Room Theatre Company creates new works, reinvented classics, touring productions, site-specific performances, musical theatre, and education programs for under-served communities in the Coachella Valley. GRTC was founded 13 years ago to meet an identified need for serious young artists to learn a wide range of skills related to theatre performance and production, regardless of income or geographic location. GRTC provides critically important social and emotional learning opportunities through membership in a close-knit theatre community, which becomes an extended family – sometimes spanning several years – for many of our children and youth. It also provides audiences with affordable access to high quality theatrical productions of all kinds.
GRTC aims to:
– Expand the reach of theatre to inspire audiences of all ages and build community;
– Innovate how and where theatre is presented;
– Use theatre to achieve academic excellence, engagement, and self-confidence among Coachella Valley youth.
– Provide career pathways for youth and young adults in performance and technical aspects of theatre and theatre education;
– Support racial equity and diversity;
– Provide accessible services, facilities, and information; and
– Support bilingual fluency.
