With support from the California Arts Council, Girls Rock Sacramento will educate the Executive Director and Board members on non-profit leadership through a membership, series of courses through Impact Foundry. The Executive Director and Board will also attend the annual conference in February 2019.
We offer summer day camps for girls ages 7 to 11, and 12 to 17. During the week, campers participate in instrument instruction, workshops, and band practice, where they write original music. There is a final performance showcase the following weekend. No musical experience is necessary!
Girls Rock Sacramento is much more than an arts and music education summer camp. We believe that creativity, positivity, and community are key elements of personal and collective empowerment and positive social change. A portion of the week is dedicated to workshops where campers can have facilitated, age-appropriate discussions about topics affecting their daily lives, such as bullying, media literacy, self-defense, and body image.
Campers can play rock, punk, hip-hop, country, pop, indie, blues, reggae, metal, experimental, hardcore, R & B, alternative, classic, or any other musical genre you can think of! Girls of all skill levels can receive instruction on guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, and vocals.
