Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, GHETTO FILM SCHOOL INC will provide the Fellows Program, which delivers free, hands-on filmmaking instruction and training from leading filmmakers and industry professionals to Los Angeles County high school students grades 9-12.

Organization Summary

Ghetto Film School annually serves 6,000+ individuals ages 14-34. Our Fellows Program is our founding and flagship initiative – a 30-month visual storytelling course for high school students. Fellows receive 1,000+ hours of college-level training from leading filmmakers and industry professionals, learning both the art and business of storytelling while getting the preparation and guidance to advance their education at top universities. Students are selected through a competitive application process based on demonstrated storytelling talent and creative ambition. We have two locations: the South Bronx, NYC and MacArthur Park, LA. Tuition is always free of charge.

Our commitment to helping young storytellers pursue creative careers doesn’t end with formal training. Digital Bodega is a full-service, alumni-run production company based in our South Bronx location. The Roster, our member network, connects early-career talent in the film, television, and entertainment industries.
