With support from the California Arts Council, Genryu Arts will engage in its Japantown Youth Cultural Leadership Project. The purpose of this project is to promote the values of community activism, cultural preservation, and artistic innovation among Japantown youth.
In its 29th year GenRyu Arts has served over 1,500,000 people from the Asian American and multiracial community of the San Francisco Bay Area through:
-Performances at public events and festivals by its professional ensemble featuring traditional works and contemporary interdisciplinary collaborations
-Studio Gen, a pop-up art space that features exhibitions, cultural workshops, and artist dialogues currently located in the Japan Center East Mall
– A Japantown-based Taiko and Dance school.
-School-site residencies and assembly performances.
