With California Arts Council support, GENRYU ARTS cultural arts enrichment program will be at three preschools that are deeply rooted in SF Japantown. Four performances will be held at each site. Culminating in community performances in San Francisco’s historic Japantown called Oshogatsu (New Year Festival), and KodomoNoHi (Children’s Day) Celebration.
In its 29th year GenRyu Arts has served over 1,500,000 people from the Asian American and multiracial community of the San Francisco Bay Area through:
-Performances at public events and festivals by its professional ensemble featuring traditional works and contemporary interdisciplinary collaborations
-Studio Gen, a pop-up art space that features exhibitions, cultural workshops, and artist dialogues currently located in the Japan Center East Mall
– A Japantown-based Taiko and Dance school.
-School-site residencies and assembly performances.
