With support from CAC, EAST BAY HOLOCAUST EDUCATION CENTER will bring Violins of Hope to the SF East Bay in 2023. We will bring these Holocaust-era restored instruments for free educational concerts to over 30 secondary schools, free public exhibits and for-pay concerts. Our organization has provides Holocaust education services to residents of the SF East Bay. EBHEC incorporated in Jan 2021 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable corporation in Pleasanton, California. EBHEC provided over a dozen Holocaust educational programs in its first year of operation, a majority of them free to the public. This included:
● free teacher online training for high school World History teachers
● free online Holocaust art and multi-media exhibit for high school students
● free Holocaust-based art and writing contest with prizes and exhibit for students
● 2 free Holocaust talks
● a live staged and streamed reading of the Holocaust play in partnership with Livermore’s SPARC
● 2 free online student-friendly Holocaust-based films in partnership with the East Bay Jewish International Film Festival (EBJIFF)
● free virtual adult reading group titled “Read to Remember”
● 2 adult Holocaust ed courses in partnership with Chabad TriValley
During 2022, EBHEC sponsored:
● free live-screenings at the Vine Cinema of 2 Holocaust films in partnership with EBIJFF in Mar 2022
● free touring Holocaust art and multimedia exhibit for the public in Pleasanton and San Ramon Apr-Jun 2022
From Jan to Mar 2023, EBHEC hosted Violins of Hope East Bay, which had approximately 17,800 attendees at 60 events including:
● 3 concerts at Bankhead on February 5-7 (1,400 people)
● 13 days of free exhibit at the Bankhead (1,700 people)
● 47 free school concerts from Jan 31 – March 3 attended by 13,500 students and teachers
● 3 free lectures at the Bankhead (100 people).
● 4 mini-concerts in Feb in Cupertino, San Mateo, Roseville and Vacaville (800 attendees)
● 2 Holocaust films presented with EBJIFF in Mar streamed and in-person attended by 300 people.
