With support from the California Arts Council, Dragon Theatre will continue to strengthen and expand programming and services for our greater Bay Area community to provide fair, livable wages to internal staff as well as paid creative work for our artists while keeping programming accessible for our audiences.
Dragon Eggs
Part teaching hospital, part silicon valley startup incubator with a mission to strengthen the whole performing arts ecosystem, Dragon Eggs is an incubator for short plays and performing artists that build community and tell stories about social issues of our day with artists ranging from contortionists and aerialists to break dancers and DJs to brilliant new playwrights and actors. Currently this program is entirely virtual.
Training at Dragon (Training)
Training programs serve seasoned pros or those brand new to performance, to help come hone their craft, develop a new skill set, or try something completely new. Courses are available for adults and youth in a multitude of performing arts disciplines and, whether aimed at the general public or working artists, focus on the transformative power of arts participation, and education. Our adult training courses are held virtually and in-person.
Dragon Youth Theatre (FKA Redwood City Youth Theatre)
Our youth education programs run year-round with our community partners and strive to bring accessible theatre education to youth in two Bay Area counties. Our youth education uses the resources and professionals involved in our training programs to develop a love of theatre and the arts in children aged 3 to 17. Dragon Youth Theatre programs are in-person as Covid allows.
Dragon Theatrical Solutions (DTS)
DTS aims to promote the use of artistic skills and employment of artists to solve our communities’ social and economic needs in partnership with leaders in other sectors.
