Diamano Coura West African Dance Company is a not-for-profit community arts organization with a cultural focus. Since its inception in 1975 and incorporation in 1999, Diamano Coura has had a strong commitment to improving exposure to, understanding of, and respect for cultural traditions and values. Diamano Coura implements its mission by:
1. Providing Arts in Education Program throughout the San Francisco/Bay Area to provide an alternative learning atmosphere whereby students would be able to learn how people perceive the connection between Africa, its Diaspora and America.
2. Initiating and supporting education and training programs that will lead to local and international art jobs.
3. Providing guidance and opportunities for immigrant, emerging and established artists to continue their art, sustain themselves, and showcase their work
4. Creating an outlet for next generation aspiring artists to gain entry into the professional world of performing arts and performance production.
