With support from the California Arts Council, Dept. of Shiny Objects (DOSO) will engage strategic planning and development consultant Evie DiCiaccio to help DOSO assess current strengths and weaknesses within the organization, and develop a multi-year strategic plan that will guide the growth of the organization. This work will chart a plan for artistic and administrative growth, along with the creation of formal processes for organizational management and sustainability.
DOSO* creates and produces 2-3 large-scale public art installations and experiences annually in the greater Los Angeles area. All are free and open to the public, and cater to diverse audiences that don’t necessarily frequent traditional art venues. Each installation takes place at a Los Angeles site of historical, temporal, or infrastructural significance—ranging from a recently burned canyon, to a downtown alley, to a working electrical substation. Since its inception a few years ago, DOSO’s public projects have invited thousands of Angelenos to collectively re-imagine the city and its possibilities.
Each of DOSO’s projects engage numerous artists, fabricators, performers, and other skilled Californians. DOSO is a woman-led organization committed to supporting diversity in its core teams, production staff, performing artists, and vendors.
*DOSO (aka The Art Department) is a collective of artists that produces work anonymously. More info at: www.archivesandrecords.info
