With support from the California Arts Council, dA Center for the Arts’ will provide weekly puppetry, storytelling, music, movement, and art projects to support the need for improved parent connections with their children ages 0 – 5. Community resources for equitable wellbeing will be distributed to empower the parents’ voice.
As the only nonprofit art center in Pomona, the dA offers 30 classes both at its location in the center of the arts district and throughout various community venues. The Center engages area youth with a variety of after-school art and theater programs, offers an art Lab for disabled adults and ongoing Saturday morning classes for all ages. Some of the classes include: Nature’s Art Collective, Saturday Imagination, Art & Activism, Dear Imagination, and Locals & Legends. Literary and theater programs include: San Gabriel Valley Literary Society, Mrs. Nelson’s Young Writers Contest, Mic and Dim Lights, Say Word, Dope Spot Studio, Ophelia’s Jump and in-house and local college theater productions. The dA also offers violin lessons to local students. Annually, the dA presents over fifteen educational exhibitions highlighting both local individuals and internationally renowned artists.
