With support from the California Arts Council, Critical Mass Dance Company will cover the general operating costs, including staff salaries, for the grant period.
We Still Move fulfills its mission in 3 main ways:
Community Care Clinics: Offered monthly at Pieter Performance Space in Lincoln Heights to increase community access to the healing arts and movement, and also mobile clinics provided per request by our nonprofit partners. We hire local BIPOC healing arts and movement practitioners to offer sessions such as movement/dance, acupuncture, massage, reiki, yoga, sound bowls, and other forms of ancestral healing that are oftentimes inaccessible or not covered through Western mental health, healthcare or medical systems. These events follow strict COVID safety protocols, are low/no cost, and provide language interpretation to ensure that our event is accessible to all.
Embodied Wellness Programs: Offered in partnership with over 50 gender justice and other nonprofits across East, South and Central/Metro LA since 2017.These 7-week programs are offered to survivors of sexual or gender-based violence to teach trauma-informed movement and other embodiment practices. Programs are free, provided online and/or in-person, in English and Spanish to ensure accessibility regardless of language, economic resources or ability.
Healing Artist Network: Creates a supportive space to build power and collective care for our growing network of healing arts practitioners. Includes a fiscal sponsorship program and community care clinics offered by and for the practitioners, providing a space for them to nurture their own health and wellness.
