With support from the California Arts Council, Creative Crossing Co-Create will employ 10 culturally diverse artists, to develop an equitable and inclusive community mural project at the Friendship House Community Center in the Southeast Bakersfield, Ca. a predominately Latinx and Black neighborhood.
Creative Crossing Co-Create is a grassroots organization which provides murals to the public in underserved and underutilized communities with the help of our volunteer artists. Artists are provided paint and supplies for projects. In addition, new artists are mentored by lead artists to design and complete murals. Many artists have never completed a mural before volunteering with Creative Crossing Co-Create. We promote local artists to help them resume build, along with teach them skills to market and network themselves. Finally, we buy art supplies from local vendors to help promote our local economy.
