With support from the California Arts Council, CVRep will create an internship program offering opportunities to young adults who are interested in pursuing careers in theatre arts. Outreach will be in partnership with the College of the Desert, where 80% of the student body comes from local BIPOC communities.
Coachella Valley Repertory is a professional not-for-profit theater company whose vision is to be a premier arts organization that provides leadership in arts presentations and makes an essential contribution to the cultural vitality of the Coachella Valley communities that it serves. Coachella Valley Repertory also has a vibrant educational program – known as The Conservatory – which offers performing arts classes to all ages of children and adults. Students can receive professional instruction in acting, writing, scene study, auditioning, voice and set design and construction. Coachella Valley Repertory has a long commitment to providing youth outreach programming free of charge to all of the desert communities; this commitment includes producing socially significant plays each year. These productions are performed by local students, and during the past 11 years more than 14,000 schoolchildren have been bussed – free of charge – to the CVRep theater to see these plays.
