Project Description
With support from the California Arts Council, City of Riverside will strengthen its marketing efforts, focusing on the creation and promotion of the Cultural District. An Arts District was identified a few years ago, and, most recently, that footprint has been tightened up in keeping with best practices of other communities. The timing is ideal, as the City of Riverside is just beginning to structure a new General Plan. Previously, the City’s Arts and Culture initiatives have stood alone. With this new, multi-year effort, arts and culture will integrate with the General Plan. This grant funding will help highlight both the historic and more recently-embraced assets that continually shape this City, intentionally cultivating the artistic and cultural soul of Riverside and introducing it to other communities regionally, nationally, and globally.
Organization Summary
The City of Riverside offers a wide array of core programs and services, including public safety, public works, recreation, and economic development, as well as supporting services for residents and businesses. These services are designed to enhance the quality of life for residents and support the city’s growth and prosperity.
Public Safety:
Police Department: Provides law enforcement services, including patrol, investigations, and traffic control.
Fire Department: Responds to fires, medical emergencies, and other hazardous situations.
Emergency Management: Coordinates response to natural disasters and other emergencies.
Public Works:
Public Works Department: Manages infrastructure, including roads, utilities, and public spaces.

Recreation:
Parks, Recreation and Community Services: Provides arts, parks, recreational facilities, and programs for all ages.

Civic Center: Hosts public events, meetings, and cultural performances.
Economic Development:
Small Business Support: Offers resources and assistance to help small businesses grow and succeed.
Tourism: Promotes tourism and visitor activities in Riverside.
Development Department: Works to attract new businesses and investments to the city.
Supporting Services:
Human Resources: Provides employee benefits and services.
Finance Department: Manages the city’s finances.
Information Technology (IT): Provides technology support and services to city departments and residents.
Community Services: Provides various programs and services to meet the needs of diverse communities, including the Youth Opportunity Center and Senior Programs.
