With support from the California Arts Council, Chico State Enterprises and its program Chico Performances, will provide approximately 15,000 children the opportunity to experience live performances of music, dance, theater, and family entertainment by regional, national, and international touring companies in Laxson Auditorium on the CSU, Chico campus. Chico Performances brings artists directly to schools and community organizations through its robust arts engagement and residency program.
Chico State Enterprises serves the university by providing fiscal management of externally funded projects orientated toward research, education, arts, and public service, including North State Public Radio, Chico Performances, Gateway Science Museum, and the Turner Print Museum. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporate organization, Chico State Enterprises is distinct from CSU, Chico and receives no state appropriations for its operations.
Chico Performances serves Chico and the greater Butte County region by presenting an annual touring artist season of on average forty events across many genres including classical music, jazz, blues, pop, country, and world music, modern and classical dance, theatrical entertainments and cirque, and a spoken word and lecture series. Chico Performances also presents Field Trip series performances for primary and secondary school children that is the only series of its kind in the surrounding 5 rural counties.
