Founded in 2016 by Bay Area dancer and choreographer Heather Arnett, Cat Call Choir is a group of irreverent but hopeful women who sing about gender-based harassment to the tune of nursery rhymes and other widely recognizable songs. Cat Call Choir’s mission is provide a platform for all women to call out their harassers in solidarity by bringing attention to their unique experiences in a creative and productive way.

They perform in theaters, public places, at marches and special events. Cat Call Choir lyrics are derived from real-life harassers’ words, actions and mannerisms and from the stories of women from around the world. Cat Call Choir avoids lyrics that admonish harassers, overtly correct their behavior, or offer solutions to harassment as a cultural epidemic. This choice helps the choir avoid victimizing its performers and allows their skills and solidarity to shine. Cat Call Choir tells true stories-with flair and innuendo-and lets the stories speak for themselves.
