Brazilian Day Arts Project 2019 is focused on expanding the participation of communities in Brazilian Folkloric Arts. The project will accomplish this through a 3 month program on Brazilian Folkloric Arts in Davis and Sacramento led by Master Folkloric Brazilian Artist-Mestre Caboclinho as well as other guest folkloric cultural artists. The 2019 project will include a free public festival themed “Brazilian Folkloric Day” and will present various folkloric dances of Brazil.
The Brazilian Folkloric Capoeira Program is one of the organization’s central programs. The program provides the history, culture, music and movement of Brazilian Folkloric Capoeira. The program is taught by Sacramento based Brazilian Folkloric Capoeira Master-Mestre Caboclinho. Capoeira is a game of movements, music, acrobatics and theater.
The Brazilian Rhythms and Drum Project allows the community to experience the heartbeat of Brazilian Rhythms here in Sacramento. Participants learn rhythms of various Brazilian Drums from the Surdo to the timbale. The program is for youth, adults, seniors and no prior experience in rhythms is necessary. Brazilian Day Sacramento Street Festival Project aims to increase widespread exposure of diverse Brazilian Arts. Launched in 2013, the idea of the free festival was to involve a greater number of the Sacramento community in Brazilian folkloric arts. Each year the festival is themed to demonstrate a unique aspect of Brazilian folkloric arts.
