With the support from the California Arts Council, Capital Dance Project (CDP) will offer three Sensory Friendly Dance Classes and two Sensory Friendly Dance Performances at the Crocker Art Museum for individuals with autism, or other sensory related disabilities, and their families. This sensory friendly programming will give individuals with sensory related disabilities, and their families, unprecedented access to dance and live performing art experiences.
Sensory Friendly Dance (SFD) invites everyone, especially individuals with autism and their families, to experience the power of dance! SFD’s offer individuals of all ages with autism the ability to express themselves in judgement-free dance classes, benefit from the physicality of dance, and socialize in a nurturing and sensory sensitive classroom environment. Similarly, SFD’s performances open their doors to everyone in the community by relaxing traditional theater rules, cultivating an accepting environment, and by providing an inclusive space for families to engage in shared live art experiences with each other.
