With support from the California Arts Council, CANYON CINEMA will create a new Communications Manager position. Currently, Canyon has only two staff members. By bolstering our communications and artist services, this position will help to ensure Canyon’s sustainability and build capacity in the midst of a rapidly-changing media distribution landscape.
CCF is a non-exclusive distributor; all rights for the works we represent are retained by the artists. We distribute worldwide; our core clients and markets include educational institutions, film/video and new media festivals, art galleries and museums, microcinemas, and community organizations.
CCF’s artist services include:
– Circulation of Super 8, 16mm, and 35mm prints and digital media for screenings, exhibitions, and classroom use;
– Management of bookings, licensing agreements, payments;
– Invoicing of clients and collection of distribution fees;
– Detailed accounting of title activity and payout of royalties annually;
– Media sales to educational institutions, museums, archives, and individuals;
– Oversight of print and digital media traffic;
– Print inspection and repair;
– Quality control of digital media;
– Care, proper handling, and storage of prints/digital files/DVD materials;
– Inclusion in a complete online catalog of works in distribution;
– Marketing and promotion of artists’ work via email, social media, and our website.
In addition, we also manage the following programs:
– Canyon Cinema Salons: Since 2014, our Salon series has provided a free, informal platform for dialogue and engagement with moving image artists.
– Canyon at The Roxie: Bringing into focus Bay Area film artists of past and present, this monographic screening series blends classic, overlooked, new, and restored films from Canyon’s collection; presented in collaboration with The Roxie Theater.
– Canyon-on-Demand: Our quarterly online series, presenting limited-run programs of new additions to Canyon’s collection, new digitizations, and work by new artist members.
– Canyon Cinemazine: Canyon’s annual print publication.
– Canyon Cinema Discovered: Our curatorial fellowship program, which aims to bring fresh perspectives to experimental media curation by supporting the creation of new screening programs composed of works from both inside and outside of Canyon’s holdings.
– Print Generations: Our film commissioning project, supporting the production of new 16mm work by Bay Area artists.
