Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, CALIFORNIA LGBT ARTS ALLIANCE will organize three screenings of Raising Zoey, a 50 minute film documenting the life of a Downey Latina Trans teen and her family. The screenings will take place at LGBT community centers in San Diego, East LA and Palm Springs and will be followed by a panel with Zoey, her mother, local activists and the filmmaker. Awarded funds will support the event’s production and promotional expenses.

Organization Summary

The California LGBT Arts Alliance organizes touring exhibitions,performances,panels, screenings, and dance/music events that strengthen the members’ artistic visibility.The Alliance works closely with the California Arts Council (CAC) and with other statewide, county and local infrastructure networks to disseminate information about funding issues, artistic opportunities and meetings to LGBTQ+ artists and organizations throughout Southern California.
