Brava! for Women in the Arts is a cultural treasure rooted in San Francisco’s Latino Cultural District empowering intersectional artists to build sustainable careers and present works that challenge injustice, nurture community, and inspire action. Funding will support four programs:
Brava Presents: Showcases local emerging artists and world-renowned creators alike, annually welcoming 30,000+ audience members of highly diverse backgrounds.
Artist-in-Residence Program: Abundant multi-year and multi-faceted support for professional artists traditionally locked out of access to the arts.
Mission Academy of Performing Arts: After-school programming in dance, music, playwriting, acting, theatrical production and design for youth with limited access to enrichment opportunities.
Community Rentals Program: Affordable open access to three professionally equipped performing arts spaces for community partners, with priority for those led by women, people of color, and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Brava! for Women in the Arts celebrates over 30 years as a professional arts organization dedicated to cultivating the artistic expression of women, youth, LGBTQIA, people of color, and other underrepresented voices. Brava’s artistic programming includes traditional and contemporary music festivals, a variety of film festivals, contemporary and experimental theatrical productions, international comedy shows, lectures and professional dance productions—making Brava one of the most eclectic and multifaceted arts venues in the Bay Area. Brava is committed to providing affordable space for artistic development and presentation and quality professional arts training for underserved youth in the San Francisco community.
