With support from the California Arts Council, BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF OCEANSIDE CALIFORNIA INCORPORATED will offer 60 youth (ages 8-15) three weeks of free photography, baile dance and pastel drawing classes at their main Clubhouse. The summer classes will culminate in a community-wide event, where the participants will perform a traditional baile dance, and participants’ photographs and pastel drawings will be displayed.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside has been providing services to our community’s youth for over 72 years, serving 1,800 members each day across five sites (one traditional Clubhouse, and four school-based sites in Oceanside). We provide after school enrichment and camp programs (Thanksgiving, Winter, President’s Week, Spring, Summer) when youth are out of school.
We have extensive experience with implementing evidenced-based programs in the areas of education, arts, health and life skills, character and leadership, sports and recreation and career development.
BGCO has established three priority outcomes for youth:
• Academic Success – Graduation from high school ready for college, trade school, military or employment
• Good Character & Community Service – Be engaged and involved in the community and show good character
• Health Lifestyles – Adopt a healthy diet, practice healthy lifestyle choices and make a lifelong commitment to fitness
