With support from the California Arts Council, Recording Artist LaDy-SN3AK will be the 2020-21 artist in residence at BMG’s UC Theatre. During her residency, LaDy-SN3AK will work with five transitional age youth artists to create a five-song record paying homage to R&B/Hip-Hop legends and produce five shows at The UC Theatre featuringLaDy-SN3AK, the youth artists, and other SF Bay Area emerging music and visual artists. These events will be accessible and community driven.
The UC Theatre is an independent non profit music venue, providing inclusive, diverse, and culturally rich music programming, as well as transformative workforce development programs removing the barriers of entry/advancement into the music business for young adults from marginalized communities in the Bay Area and beyond. The theatre annually serves 125,000 through a diverse array of concerts including Balkan Beat Box, Matisyahu, Ravi Coltrane, Ebo Taylor and Pat Thomas, the Banff Mountain Film Festival, Toro y Moi, Green Day, Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble, the Berkeley Community Fund Gala, the Golden Gate Symphony, and much more.
Our Concert Career Pathways Workforce Development Program develops critical and creative thinking skills necessary to become successful in the workplace, offering transitional-age-youth passionate an opportunity to develop a career in the music and arts industries. Concert Career Pathways is unique paid internship program that connects participant’s love of music and arts with professional development and hard, technical skills in a lucrative industry and removes barriers to entry for underserved community members ages 17-25. This free program was intentionally designed with industry professionals and nonprofit development leaders to ensure alignment with industry standards and a competitive edge.
