With support from the California Arts Council, BAYVIEW OPERA HOUSE INC will improve our website to better represent the organization’s vision, mission and purpose. It will provide a more comprehensive picture of who we are and at the same time better inform the public about our programs, inviting our constituents to participate more fully in the arts. Furthermore, it will communicate how we are embedded in the community and support the emerging African American Arts and Cultural District.
The Opera House is the heartbeat of the community, the hub of Black arts, culture, and social impact. We cultivate and provide access to Arts & Culture for all of Bayview/Hunters Point, Potrero Hill, and San Francisco. Through our arts & culture events, training programs, and community productions, we provide a safe place for our entire community. Core programs include:
D10 Black Arts Grant Support for Events: This grant offers assistance to ensure the success of events and projects that celebrate African American culture and its vital role in the community. This grant can pay for things like renting a place for your event, paying staff, buying materials, getting permits, and other expenses that help to successfully carry out an event or project.
Community Engagement: This is a great way for local creatives to curate events and programming that strengthen the community, showcase local art, and encourage the cultural preservation of our neighborhoods.
Great Opportunity: This is a great chance to get plugged into the community, highlight artistic work on a larger scale, and give grantees creativity a platform to shine!
Artist in Residence
The Ruth Williams Artist in Residence program provides Black artists with financial and spatial support to develop and produce original events, performances, and programming for the Bayview community.
