Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, the Bay Area International Children’s Film Festival (BAICFF) will expand its reach and deepen its impact beyond an annual festival by developing, with California-based media professionals and artists, an interactive series of hour-long “How Did They Do That?” film programs for children and families that will be shared with communities throughout the Bay Area.

Organization Summary

BAICFF presents an annual festival of engaging,
culturally diverse cinema and film education programs for children and families. BAICFF
has presented over 600 family-friendly films of high artistic value from around the
world. Each year, children create short films during the festival and over 1,300 children have participated in our workshops designed to introduce
kids to the world of animation and live-action filmmaking.
The annual festival program includes animated and live-action short and feature-length films, special programs including filmmaker Q&As, youth film
series, workshop film screenings and featured speakers. Our education program
includes hands-on animation workshops in stop-motion techniques designed by
Academy Award-nominated Pixar animator and BAICFF Co-Producer, Jim Capobianco, staffed by local college film and media students from Berkeley City College.
BAICFF is open to the public and offers affordable ticket prices as
well as special group rates for schools.
