With support from the California Arts Council, ARTWARD Initiative will increase its public projects in one of the most diverse cities in California – the City of Carson. The “Love My Neighbor” public art projects with various public art activities provide unique and effective support to strengthen and unite this diverse community, provide the tools of engagement of communities of color, immigrants and indigenous groups building a safer and a mutually understanding place to live.
Artward Initiative supports culturally engaged projects, public art and social interaction programs in underserved and historically marginalized communities of color to promote cultural diversity and change the perception of the community through art. We focus on art as tool of community turn-around. Our projects include free/ low cost classical music concerts that are accessible to people of all backgrounds. We conduct “Love My Neighbor” free public art projects in the disadvantaged communities in the City of Carson and at the non-profit “Artward! Gallery at “Scottsdale” neighborhood. We provide arts outreach programs to youth at risk as part of Gang Diversion program. We provide local minority groups with free art education programs. To implement our goals we built strategic collaborations with The City of Carson CA, Bank of America Community Outreach Better Money Habits Program, Carson Sheriff’s Department Gang Diversion Team (GDT), “Scottsdale” community activists and management.
