With support from the California Arts Council, ArtSpan will continue to produce the year-round Excelsior Art Window Display program spotlighting local artists through rolling art installations in establishments along the Excelsior’s Mission Street Corridor. Using art as a vehicle for community engagement, this project will celebrate local culture and creativity, offer paid exhibition opportunities for artists, envigorate businesses, and enliven the overlooked corridors of the neighborhood.
ArtSpan’s programs are focused on supporting the professional development of artists and connecting them with art appreciators. In addition to our annual city-wide event, SF Open Studios, we create opportunities for artists to build their practice and to expand their skills. Our Artist Workshops support and inform the professional development of our artist members and provide a space where information can flow freely between artists and art professionals. Art-In-Neighborhoods produces art exhibitions in diverse and accessible locations with local and tourist appeal. ArtSpan’s Studio Residency Program partners with local developers and property owners to develop artist studios in underutilized spaces. Our Public Art Projects and Art Window Displays create paid opportunities for local artists to present their work in large-scale format with massive impact.
