With support from the CAC, ARTS & BUSINESS COUNCIL OF SACRAMENTO, (DBA Sacramento Alliance for Regional Arts – SARA) will continue to expand the membership program, pay salary for a support staff and provide continued sustainability workshops as well as support (grant writing, capacity building) for regional Nonprofit arts orgs and artists.
Sacramento Alliance for Regional Arts (SARA) leads the greater Sacramento community to advocate for an equitable, vibrant, and creative region. Sacramento Alliance for Regional Arts promotes the arts throughout the region, including arts organizations, artists and teaching artists through arts education. SARA works diligently to ensure access of arts organizations and artists to opportunities through awareness, mentorship and support.
Post Pandemic, SARA was instrumental in providing a Sustainability program for 16 nonprofit Arts Organizations in Sacramento to ensure support through Covid-19 and beyond. This cohort of non-profits Art org’s participated in this collective program hosted by several organizations and included SARA, The Impact Foundry, Verge Center for the Arts, AMS Planning & Research and NorCal School of the Arts. This Sustainability program for Nonprofit Arts Organizations was funded by a Federal Cares Act grant through the City of Sacramento. We anticipate the continuation of this program, pending further grant funding.
SARA provides and participates in regional and state convenings and meetings to keep our membership base knowledgeable and involved in the current state of funding opportunities as well as advocacy needs. We also actively work to illuminate the needs of the various communities and counties in order to serve the arts sector broadly.
SARA has created an advocacy tool kit to ensure those advocating at the city, county and school district level will have the resources to execute a strategic advocacy campaign for the Arts.
SARA has a membership outreach program that works at building relationships and membership from all four counties in our region. Membership is currently free to join SARA with the plan to implement a sliding scale membership fee in the near future. SARA’s priority is to make the organization accessible for all artists and arts organizations and to eliminate barriers to access.
