Project Description

Mission Statement — Arts Bridging the Gap (ABG) is a social justice organization that uplifts the voices, experiences, and self-expression of youth from under resourced communities through immersive arts programs. We seek to cultivate the skills, mindsets, and connections that will allow young people to become their fullest, healthiest selves.

ABG facilitates system-change, comprehensive programs that center the arts as an essential piece of healing childhood trauma. ABG’s programs aim to:
Improve mental health, thereby positively contributing to overall wellness
Develop resilience, self-efficacy, communication, and leadership skills
Investigate the intersection of social justice and creativity
Create opportunities for at risk youth to explore their socio-emotional expression
Expand access to quality arts instruction
Provide essential support services to youth including job training, socio-emotional tools, and mentorship opportunities

ABG envisions a world in which all youth are empowered to become changemakers. We build community by engaging individuals in the creation of public art and activism in their own neighborhoods. We embrace all varieties of physical, emotional, psychological, environmental, and learning abilities within our participants and team, for ABG uplifts individuals not in spite of their challenges, but rather because of, and in celebration of, each person’s unique, inherent strengths.
