With support from California Arts Council, Amazing Grace Conservatory will partner with Gailen and Cathy Reevers Center and USC on the Sugar Hill Arts Revival project presenting the legacy of Black Entertainers such as Hattie McDaniel and Ray Charles, past Sugar Hill residents. By engaging West Adams in learning about the community’s history through multidimensional reenactments of the artists’ lives, the Sugar Hill Arts Revival Festival in March 2021 will initiate the Sugar Hill Arts District.
Amazing Grace Conservatory provides culturally competent year-round youth development programs that use the performing arts (acting, dance, voice, spoken word) and media arts training as a conduit for self expression and self-esteem building. Training is combined with social emotional learning, increasing access to quality performing arts and technical skills instruction for underserved youth of color (ages 5-18) in South L.A. Classes are taught by Industry professionals both who train/mentor students in an atmosphere that is nourishing for their personal, artistic and professional growth. AGC’s highly intentional programming inspires youth to engage in school, improve academic performance and social behavior, find their voice, passion and purpose through performing arts. Professional productions culminate in entertaining and socially relevant messaging, staged theaterical performances, fashion shows, films, videos and voice-over products created by our talented youth performers.
