Project Description

The mission of the Afro-American Chamber Music Society Orchestra (AACMSO) is to preserve historic symphonic masterpieces and to commission and premiere symphonic works by living composers of the African diaspora. AACMSO provides education on diverse styles of music ranging from folk songs, ragtime, blues and hip hop to overtures, concertos, dance suites and symphonies. The organization revives the music of black composers from as early as the 16th century, teaching its historical significance. AACMSO presents live public performances through the Black Symphonist Concert Series.
