Project Description
With support from the California Arts Council, 1 Shine Youth will be able to acquire a larger facility and provide more services to inner-city youth and teens. Additionally, the funding will allow us to provide all-day programming to meet the needs of youth & families within the communities we serve.
Organization Summary
The youth of 1 Shine are in serious need of opportunities to participate in youth development programs designed to develop leadership skills, increase academic achievement, & provide quality performing arts.
Research has shown that when communities take an active role in providing families & schools with supplemental educational, extra-curricular, & leadership programming, children have a greater chance of becoming successful & reaching their goals. Our programs are designed to encourage, enlighten, & challenge youth to be leaders for their school, home, & community.
We provide the youth & community with the following programs:
1 Shine Summer & After School Program
Trailblazers Character Development & Leadership Program
• DIVAS of Compton Dance Leadership Program
• Performing Arts & Music Production
• Vocational Education & Career Exploration
• Leadership thru Performing Arts & Culture
• Professional Development Workshops for Schools & Organizations
